From Envirowise website:
Resource efficiency is not just an environmental initiative, it is also an important business process that could potentially save your organisation a lot of money.
Waste costs money, typically up to 4% of business turnover and by finding ways to reduce waste, your company could become profitable.
Most businesses can identify substantial savings from resource efficiency. Take the The Oxford Group for example, this 40-strong consulting and training company, implemented a number of initiatives around paper use, yielding cost savings of £40,000/year.
Booker Belmont Wholesale Ltd achieved net savings of £33,050 in the first year and £106,700/year thereafter, by installing simple, low-cost water savings devices.

Wilsonart International
The Environmental Academy has provided me with training which helped me to motivate management and employees to adopt a policy of reducing, re-using and recycling our waste. This has given us a significant reduction in waste to landfill and a saving of £12,000 in one year.

Sir Robert McAlpine
A candidate from the major contractor Sir Robert McAlpine undertook a cost benefit analysis on their waste segregation. Individual skips covering inert, metal, cardboard, plasterboard, and long project have been established on a site. Segregating skills in this manner saved £2,825.40 per month which equated £33,904.80 per annum on just one site. Good practice will be extended to all other sites.

CA Group (Roofing)
The CA Roofing group sent 3 candidates on the programme which spearheaded the setting up of an environmental team. An improved lighting system has been installed which is estimated to save 34,000 kwh savings per annum which is a saving of 14,620 kg CO2 emissions per year and this is an approximate 25% saving.
They have also improved their waste segregation which initially has equated to savings of £314.04 per month. There was a reduction of waste to landfill from 12.6 tonnes to 10.8 tonnes per month, therefore reduction of 1.8 tonnes per month which is 21.6 tonnes per year.

ROK Bolton
ROK at Bolton have established a new recycling centre on site which has saved £1,953 in 12 months from improved waste management on just one site.
86.54% of waste is being recycled and recovered whereas previously the majority would have been mixed and sent to landfill.
One large benefit was that the resident on the estate where they set up the new recycling centre asked via the client (a major social housing provider) to have the centre left in situ for their own use for recycling).

FHM representatives Helen Adair and Louise Buckton were candidates on the level 1 and level 3 environmental training programme. As a result of their training they undertook a case study where they identified baseline data on petrol consumption at FHM for a year.
The cost of petrol is $pound;1 million per annum which produces 8,838,720 kg CO2 per annum. To reduce these costs they have identified the following practices to reduce the kg of CO2 produced:
